Q 1. What game consoles does Shadow Cast support besides Switch?
Shadow Cast is suitable for game consoles that support HDMI output, including PS3-5, Xbox 360/One/Series S&X, Nintendo Wi i/Wi iU, etc. Please note that Switch Lite does not support HDMI output and therefore cannot be used with Shadow Cast.
Q 2. What if my computer does not have a USB-C port?
You can use a normal Cto A data cable to connect to the computer, or you can purchase a CtoA adapter.
Q 3. Can I use more than two Shadow Casts at the same time?
Yes, but currently the GENKI Arcade App we developed can only display a single video source. You need to use it with a recording and live broadcast software (such as OBS) that supports multiple video sources. We are still evaluating this function, and it may be possible to use the software in the future. Update to fix.
Q 4. Will using Shadow Cast for a long time overheat?
No, we actually measured that the "Super Smash Bros." with 8 players running for 24 hours in a row, the temperature was about 38 degrees after one hour.
Q 5. What is the difference between Shadow Cast and other capture cards?
Shadow Cast is not a special capture card, we position it as a game accessory rather than a live recording device, but it just happens to have some of the functions of a capture card. In addition, with the GENKI Arcade App developed by us, it can achieve a good plug-and-play gaming experience.
Q 6. Does Shadow Cast work with iPads with USB-C ports?
Since the iPad does not support video input via USB-C, it must be used with a Mac to use the "Flying" function to mirror the video to the top of the iPad.
Q 7. What if my computer system is not macOS or Windows?
Don't worry! The GENKI Arcade App now supports the Chrome browser, whether you are Linux, Android, Chromebook, etc. In theory, as long as the device does not block access to the external UVC Webcam, you can use it.
Q 8. Why is Shadow Cast a male HDMI←→female USB-C design? Shadow Cast is specially designed for travel players. Even though the computer does not have an HDMI port and there is no HDMI cable around, it can easily connect to the computer through the included USB-C cable. Play console games.
Q 9. Do I need a dock charger when using it with the Switch? What is the GENKI Dock?
When using the Switch with Shadow Cast, you need to connect the base charger to switch to TV mode. GENKI Dock is our last product. It has a two-in-one power base and is only 1/10 the size of the original base. It can replace the original base charger.
Q 10. Why does Shadow Cast not have the capture card loop-out function?
Shadow Cast is not a special capture card. Its main function is to allow users to easily play switch and other console games on the computer with the GENKI Arcade App. It is suitable for players who do not have a TV or monitor but have a computer and want to play switch through a large screen. If the loop-out function is required, it is recommended to purchase a special capture card with related functions.
Q 11. What is the game image quality and frame rate output by Shadow Cast?
The recommended game screen of Shadow Cast is 720p60fps. Although it can support up to 1080p60fps, there are currently unstable frame rates and dropped frames in the 1080p@60fps mode. In fact, the user may affect the actual experience in the 1080p mode. In Genki We pre-set two modes on Arcade App. If you are looking for a smooth picture, we suggest you choose Performance Mode. If you care more about picture quality, you can choose Resolution Mode. Of course, you can also enter ↑↑↓↓←--→BA Enter on the computer to unlock it. More options for quality frames.
Q 12. When using Shadow Cast to connect to a computer to play games, where does the game sound come from?
The game sound comes from the computer.
